Roseville Home Start’s Annual “Holiday Teddy Bear Tea”

Roseville Home Start, an organization that provides transitional housing to families in Placer County, hired Bouchard Communications Group to re-imagine their annual fundraising gala. We provided event conceptualization, logistical support, ideation and publicity management.

CHALLENGE:

• The gala was not meeting fundraising goal
• Attendance was plummeting

STRATEGY:

• Reinvent the gala to a holiday-themed event —with Roseville Home Start’s focus on families and children, a holiday event captured the essence and warmth of what Home Start was trying to communicate to donors and supporters
• Create a unique Teddy Bear Tea event unlike anything offered in the region

EVENT ELEMENTS:

• Nutcracker dancers
• Strolling carolers
• A visit from Santa who reads the Night Before Christmas
• A FREE teddy bear to all children 12 and under
• Treats for the children
• Photos with Santa
• A holiday raffle

RESULTS:

• Teddy Bear Tea secured coverage on KFBK, Good Day Sacramento, Sacramento Bee, Roseville Press Tribute, Auburn Journal and a host of other online blogs and outlets.
• Negotiated ticket trades with local radio stations and Gold Country Media, building event awareness and driving ticket sales
• Secured 250 attendees in first year, and sold out in the following years
• Projected revenues from the event are about $25,000
